About

The Contemporary is published by Trinity University students and serves as a platform for undergraduate thought leadership, advocacy and current affairs dialogue.

We strive to present student scholarship of varying mediums in an engaging format for undergraduates. We began with a simple proposition: fragmented and inaccessible media dissuades young people from engaging with public affairs. While college campuses often have vibrant internal dialogues, undergraduate thought leaders from different institutions rarely come in contact. For this reason, we have set out to unite the best of undergraduate writing and reporting in one platform. As student finalists in Trinity University’s Stumberg Entrepreneurship Competition, we have had the opportunity to grow our organization’s reach and now have columnists at four universities in the U.S. including Pomona College, Claremont McKenna College and Earlham College as well as one in the United Kingdom.

By combining the styles of current affairs magazines, academic journals and blogs, we hope to provide content for every interest and knowledge level in the effort to catalyze tough conversations. We encourage you to continue browsing our website for find a variety of content, from an interview with General Martin Dempsey, the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, to a personal reflection on the impacts of Islamophobia on American Muslims. We invite you to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and complete our short survey.
