The managing editors of The Contemporary will collaborate with the editor-in-chief to lead our editorial vision. They will be responsible for working with up to five columnists who each send articles on a bi-weekly basis. This process involves coordinating, editing, and publishing such pieces on The Contemporary’s website in a timely manner.
Managing editors will also work with the editor-in-chief to assign columnists to assistant editors and direct the activities of those assistant editors. On a monthly basis, they will be in charge of an interview and are also welcome, but not required, to write regularly. Managing editors will also contribute to developing various parts of our business activities. They will be responsible for attending regular weekly meetings in person or via Skype, and communicate through the team’s Slack channel. We plan to add two managing editors. One will work with columnists who cover international affairs, the other will work with columnists that cover domestic politics and policy.
